Kay C is known as the Don of the smoother side of Drum & Bass in his residency, Magnetic Soul. He is famous for his skills to make people on the dance floor sexy and groovy. Since he started DJing in 2002, he has achieved phenomenal success. He has shot straight to the semi-final of The Pioneer DJ Championship in 2003. He then became a resident DJ for Koncrete Jungle held by Phreaktion, a crew of Drum & Bass which established the foundations in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai.

He has great experience in supporting international DJs. At Marcus Intalex (UK) he demonstrated his ability show case from his smoother warm-up, then to amp-killing anthems to make a spectacular craze on the floor.

More recently he supported the Hospital camp when Nu:Tone came to Hong Kong for his Southeast Asia Tour at Ruums Club in Lan Kwai Fong.

He has held residencies at Club Nu, Vodka Bar, Chapter 3, and Bling, not to mention special events at Loft9, Lost, and Phonograph.

Every time he gets on the decks, he guarantees your body grooving. You don’t just groove along, but want to dance like a puppet? No worries, he does it perfectly too. He has started appearing as a special guest DJ at ‘New Black’ at Yumla.

Kay C began working with Phreaktion, a Drum N Bass crew in Hong Kong in 2003. He began playing as a resident at Konkrete Jungle, a monthly event held at the legendary Amnesia at that time.

During his time with Phreaktion, he supported local and regional DJs at a couple of staple Hong Kong venues, such as Amnesia and Ruums.

After a couple of years holding things down for the local Hong Kong side of things, he saw his first supporting role for an International DJ in March 2005 when he opened up for Marcus Intalex (Soul:R).

He is currently one of the members in Magnetic Soul, which he joined in May 2005. Magnetic Soul has become a household name in Hong Kong associated with all things Drum N Bass. They have organized several monthly events, one off events, and brought several International Drum N Bass DJs into Hong Kong.

Kay C has graced the decks at places like Amnesia, Club Nu, Vodka Bar, Chapter 3, Ruums, Phonograph, and Bling, and he also has a residency at Hong Kong's favorite DJ Bar - Yumla (http://www.yumla.com).

Since this time with Magnetic Soul he has supported artists such as Nu:Tone (Hospital Records), SUV (Playside), Yomi (Tone Def Records), and Sonic (Space Recordings).

He's also traveled outside of his native Hong Kong to represent his sound with an appearance in Shanghai in July 2005 to play for his old crew leader, DJ Siesta at her new incarnation of Phreaktion at Madam Zung.

In March 2006, he headed to Bangkok to represent Magnetic Soul for Dragon and the Homebass Communications crew at a night called Azia Bass at Club Astra (http://www.club-astra.com), which has become “THE” venue for Drum N Bass in Asia.

Outside of supporting International DJs, he has also shared deck duties with Magnetic Soul regional guests from around Asia, which include DJ Low (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia), Vortex (exitmusik.com, Singapore), Dragon (Homebass communications, Bangkok), and Zul (Subvert Headquarters, Singapore). You can hear several Kay C’s mixes on the Magnetic Soul website at http://www.magneticsoul.co.uk.

Kay C is definitely one of the main factors in the Asian Drum N Bass scene. If you are in Hong Kong and into Drum N Bass make sure you get out to see Kay C in action.
