History

Loudspeaker, one of the first punk bands in Shanghai was founded in 1998 under the name "Dark Song". At the beginning, Zhang Jian on guitar and vocals, JiangZhen Dong on bass, and the drummer Wang Lei were the band members and very active in the Shanghai scene since then. In 1999, they changed the name to Loudspeaker and did a DIY demo in the same year. In 2001, Jiangzhen-Dong left the band. Then, in 2002, the new bass player Li Yi Han joined. They have played a lot since 1999.

"Independence and positive is our attitude of music and life. We appreciate all the friends who help the Loudspeaker. Go straight ahead!" - Loudspeaker

June 14th 2008, they performed at a Yu Yin Tang show called Shanghai Punk vs Nanjing Punk (Bands: Loudspeaker, Mortal Fools, Overdose and Angry Jerks). According to Andy Best, With four bands on the bill the show was billed as an 8 pm start. Mortal Fools were supposed to go on first and a band member was missing so rather than adjusting the running order they put the whole show back to 10 - only to decide on putting MF on last, after all that.[1]

January 29th, 2010, they performed at the Playful Warrior concert night in the Yuyintang. According to Andy Best: Loudspeaker used to be a skate punk band but then they changed their sound into hardcore. They continued right where Six Shot left off.[2]
