M.I.K.
From Rock in China Wiki
M.I.K., Shanghai Post punk / Disco House / New Wave one-man project
History
M.I.K. is a musical project by Yuzhong Wang, currently a commercial bank employee in Shanghai, China.
The project started as personal fun-seeking programings in Alexandria, Virginia, United States, when several tracks under heavy influence from British band The Cure were produced. These works were released as "Play" EP, a free Internet download, in January 2003. Two more tracks were created in 2004 before Yuzhong returned to China. In September 2005, "J.M." from "Play" was remastered and included in compilation "IndieBlog Update" by independent label Newbees in Beijing, China.
After a period of inactivity, M.I.K. resumed music-making, this time with influences from various dance punk artists, in June 2008 in Hong Kong. Selected tracks were completed in Shanghai and released free online as an EP titled "Reasonable Nonsense With Nonsensible Reasons".
Prior to M.I.K., Yuzhong was a member of Beijing-based postpunk trio 5-D.
