History
Miss Freak (怪诞小姐) is an indie Britpop group established in late 2009.
Three like-minded youths got together one day to star the band Miss Freak: singer/guitarist Xiao Wei, bassist Tian Yang, and drummer Wu Peng. After the founding of the band, the genre became a mix of circus-style jumping, retro, and lively music that became embodied in their sound. It attracted a lot of weird fans, but the atmosphere laid by the manic performance only made for a strange band too. Soon, the band began to perform in Beijing at hallowed venues and music festivals.
In addition to embodying the ideas of dance halls, they also made their music sound like the 20th century popular 70's-style Britpop, in terms of songwriting and retro guitar skills. They found hope in the popular Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, The Libertines, and other influential bands.
