Urgent Notice:

Visa issues, Mr. Big (USA)’s show at 2011 Shanghai Midi Music Festival CANCELED

but the festival and other bands are still on as planed!!!

2011 Shanghai Midi Music Festival Organizing Committee with great regret and sorry to inform all of you that:

According to our original plan, famous American rock band Mr. Big will play on the night of May 6th in Pu Dong Century Park at 2011 Shanghai Midi Music Festival, but at present, we are facing a severe emergency, because of visa issues, they can not arrive at Shanghai in time, in that case, Mr. Big’s show has to be canceled.

In details:

According to the original tour plan of Mr. Big, the band will first enter China in Beijing to take part in 2011 Beijing Midi Music Festival. Then they will fly to Taiwan for other shows. Later on May 6th, they will enter China again in Shanghai for the 2011 Shanghai Midi Music Festival.

After Midi Music Festival Organizing Committee received the Performance-License for Mr. Big, approved by Chinese Ministry of Culture and Visa Letters for double entry issued by Interrelated Foreign Affairs Department, we delivered these documents to Mr. Big and the Visa Office of Chinese Embassy in Japan immediately. At that time, Mr. Big was touring in Japan. On April 27th, Mr. Big went to the Visa Office of Chinese Embassy in Japan applying for Chinese visa and two entries permits. Unfortunately, once the band got the visa, instead of a multiple entrance business visa (which has been the regular case for foreign bands on Midi Festivals for many years), it turned out to be a single entry work visa. Even though, it is clearly stated that each member of Mr. Big would enter China twice to accomplish their shows both in Beijing and Shanghai in the Visa Letters by the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai to the Chinese Embassy in Japan who in the end has issued is a single entry work visa. Since the band does not have enough knowledge of current Chinese visa policy and did not pay enough attention to this issue, they have not informed Midi Music Festival Organizing Committee in the earliest possible time, which led to the serious result that we did not have enough time to take efficient actions to remedy. Running out of time, till the afternoon of May 5th, though with great efforts and coordination in every way, we still were not able to solve the problem of a second entrance to China for Mr. Big. We are very sad and sorry but to inform all that the live-show of Mr. Big on 2011 Shanghai Midi Music Festival, Pu Dong Century Park, has to be CANCELED.

But this will not affect the overall performance of the whole festival nor other bands.

To our dearest audience and friends who have supported us over years, herewith, Midi Music Festival Organizing Committee apologize sincerely, we do hope you can understand and accept. Please have faith in Midi Music Festival, thank you all.
