History
Nanwu was found in 2007, signed to Shixi Music (视袭音乐) in 2010. Nanwu's music nutrition is the rich soil of Chinese culture, watered with contempolary western multi elemental methods in play style, all steered together into stasty mix traditional Chinese art and youth humor, the Nanwu-Art as the band calls it.
Nanwu's music expresses the deep thought of this new generation of young Chinese about themselves and their social life, singing about small stories and bigger senses of what lies underneath the skylines of the City. Their songs and live shows achived a common sense of feeling, understanding and resonance among listeners with all different backgrounds.

Nanwu has a highly melodic style, integrating Chinese and Western music so that audiences always find them refreshing. With continuous development of the band, their music content is constantly enriched, and they strive to make a broader range of people accept their music. In August 2009, the Nanwu released their debut independent EP.
On May 4th, 2010, they performed at the Midi Music Festival 2010.
On June 17th, 2011, they won the Summersonic festival band competition finals at the Mao Livehouse and got thereby a stage slot at the Japanese Summersonic festival.[1] July 31st, they performed at the InMusic Festival in Zhangbei. According to Ruby of Beijing Daze: Worried we’d missed Nanwu who were scheduled to play at 2.45, as we walked in the gates we heard the familiar sounds of the flute, woodblock and beijinghua and were relieved to find they’d just started – the festival was running nearly an hour late already! Nanwu are always crowd pleasers and they didn’t disappoint. Their songs are just so catchy, you can’t help singing and dancing along with them.[2]
