History

Pet Conspiracy

Pet Conspiracy consists of famous electronic producers Huzi, popular designer Yun Yun, and Italian Indie musicians Edo and Mary.

2007-2008

Pet Conspiracy was first founded in 2007 by Huzi, Helen Feng, and LIman.

Lead Guitarist Huzi an established artist in the Beijing underground music scene first appeared as the front man for late 90's Beijing Alternative Folk Band X-Doctor. Releasing his first album--Dramatic Maquillage for the Night under Jingwen records in 1999. X-Doctor was retired when Huzi started to focus himself on electronica music. Since then, Huzi has released three albums on China's most infamous indie label Modern Sky Records, with his last full LP -- Gemini Trip -- one of the best selling Chinese Electronica albums to date on Modern Sky.

In working for his latest album, Huzi collaborated with Helen Feng the lead singer of the popular rock band Ziyo. Helen was also an established TV personality and popular radio show host. Her film credits include writing the theme song for many indie films in China, most recently lending her voice for the theme song of the Mummy 3. Inbetween recording, ZIYO's first EP on Warner Music, Helen knocked out a few early songs which later led to Pet Conspiracy.

The duo later recruited eletronica producer LIman. LIman produced his first album in 2001, an ambient electronica album on Beijing's indie label Shan Shui Records, later to turn his attention to dance music in 2003. His music attracted the attention of German label Stemmatics in 2007 signing him to produce his first Vinyl to be released in Germany. Together they took the studio sound to the stage.

In 2008, the band recruited vocalist Yun Yun and drummer EDO De Bastiani.

The impressive roster first had them listed as being a kind of electro super band, but project grew past it's individuals members and in just one short year led to a both international and domestic music industry buzz culminating in packed clubs throughout their European tour of such famous clubs as White Trash Fast Food in Berlin, Razzmatazz in Barcelona, and Merlin in Budapest. Pet Conspiracy is known for its at times over-the-top performances that blended punk rock antics, disco beats, new wave melodies, and chaotic artistic flair.

Their first gigs had been in 2007 (the year, their formation can be fixed to), in detail on December 16th in Beijing's Yugong Yishan. December 29th, they rocked Xiamen's 沙発 bar.

January 6th, 2008, they performed in the MAO live house Beijing. In September their first EP Depot is released. From September 14th to October 13th toured Europe. October 31st they performed in the Song Club. December 8th they rocked the Song Club.

During their first Europe Tour, Pet Conspiracy rocked Berlin (together with Glasgow band the Fangs), headed over to Cologne's SUBWAY club, moved on to Budapest, then back to Berlin (White Trash Fast Food Club) and finally ending their tour in Barcelona's Razzmatazz.[1]

2009

At the beginning of 2009, after Liman quit the band, Pet Conspiracy recruited vocalist and dj Mary.

January 3rd, 2009, they performed in the Yugong Yishan. April 17th, they performed in the Yugong Yishan. May 2009, they participated in the Strawberry Music Festival 2009.

Further in May 2009, Helen Feng is voted the no. 11 coolest rock star in Beijing by Timeout Beijing Magazine. We love her rapport with feisty guitarist and back-up singer Huzi in Pet Conspiracy, which has been known to involve on-stage kisses. She’s also an impressive commentator and champion of the local scene, DJing for Hit FM and now seeking to bring more electro-pop acts to Beijing.[2] June 5th, they performed in the Yugong Yishan. August 8th 2009, they performed during the InMusic Festival 2009 on the Zhangbei Grasslands on the Stage 2. At the end of October, Helen Feng (both of Ziyo and Pet Conspiracy) won the award Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the Midi Awards 2009.

In October 2009, Pet Conspiracy was selected by MTV Asia as MTV Band of the Month

Beginning of November 2009, Pet Conspiracy released several band photos showing themselves nude in the nature.[3]

In Summer 2009, Pet Conspiracy have their second European Tour, including Germany (Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Muenster, Cologne and Frankfurt), Austria (Wien), Italy (Venice), Switzerland (Basel, Zurich) and Spain (Barcelona, Madrid).

In the February 2010 issue of TimeOut Beijing, Dorothea Adams and Matthew Kagler named them as one of the top acts in 2010.[4]

In 2010 they are awarded the prize of "Best Electro Band in China". (citation needed)

At the end of August 2010, Helen Feng quit the band Pet Conspiracy.[5]

Since Summer 2010, Pet Conspiracy new line-up (Huzi, EDO, Yun Yun and Mary) start touring China, rocking the coolest clubs and festivals all around the country, and occasionally opening for band such as Vitalic and Neon Trees.

In October 2010, the band make a last European tour together with Helen, playing in Norway (Oslo), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao), Switzerland (Geneva, Basel, Bern, Zurich), Germany (Berlin, Frankfurt), and Luxembourg.

2011

In June 2011, Pet Conspiracy release the band first Album Chongwu Tongmou (Pet Conspiracy), including 11 tracks, which they presented during two massive solo shows in Beijing Tango and Shanghai Mixing Room.

In August 2011, Pet Conspiracy leave for a "Summer World Tour", including Europe (Zurich Street Parade), South-East Asia (Singapore and Kuala Lumpur) and China (Shanghai, Qingdao, Hangzhou). [6]
