History

Winner of Metal Battle China 2009: S.A.W.

Found in March 2005 from the ashes of former line up with band founder Zhao Tianyi and Zhang Yao and Shang Chu, and band name taken from the famous horror film, S.A.W. still are quite some freshmen on the Chinese metal scene. With new bloods joint in shortly afterwards, S.A.W. moved on stylistic from earlier Nu Metal approach to the modern touch of contemporary Metal Core. With a nearly complete new line up S.A.W. started attending all kinds of underground and metal shows in the club scene in Beijing and a tour in 2007 (see video links below).

June 2009, they won the best Chinese metal band on the band contest Metal Battle China by Painkiller Magazine. With that they are qualified to attend the international Metal Battle on Wacken in Germany, representing China.

In April 2010, S.A.W. was interviewed by Rock in China.

On January 8th, 2011, they performed at the 15 years anniversary concert of Yaksa in the Yugong Yishan with in total 10 bands performing and paying tribute to Yaksa. According to Beijing Daze: Saw 锯 came on for and was the best freaking band of the evening, bar none, not even Yaksa themselves! They were one of the few bands to put on a real Metal performance with some solid guitar work, good vocals, energy and stamina! They sounded metal and that’s what the evening was all about! Definitely gonna catch these guys again![1]
