History

Dubbed the "Queen of Drum'n'Bass" in China (she was the only one pushing Drum'n'Bass in Hongkong back in 1999 and did ca. 35 D'n'B live events till 2002) – Jane Tan aka DJ Siesta is best known for her funky, soulful, dance floor set. With an extensive experience as a drum'n'bass promoter/DJ in Asia, she has developed a fine crowd-reading skill that allows her to play exactly what the crowd wants to hear. In 2005 she came to Shanghai and within one year the D'n'B bursted out of the underground and became one of the most popular style of electro music in the Shanghai club scene, the same time, here Phreaktion also has grown into one of the leading organizers of Shanghai parties. For a relatively young DJ, Siesta's shown a lot of prospect and without a doubt is transforming into an iconic figure in Shanghai. Her sets now consist of drum'n'bass, bassline and some dubstep.

Having spent 10 years each in Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Hong Kong - Shanghai is now my 4th home and it has been wonderful to me.

Currently I am DJ'ing under the name "SIESTA", and running "PHREAKTION", the biggest drum'n'bass party series in China @ Club Bonbon, as well as a smaller grimier monthly event "SWEATSHOP" @ The Shelter. 2009 will mark my 10th year in the business so watch this space for some more phreaktion-licious-ness!
