History
The four high school friends started “Smash Up” in 2000 in Osaka, Japan. After several line-up changes, they finally found out their own individual and now official set-up. “Smash up” describes itself as a super punk band that combines pop music elements with a nostalgic touch of the music back in the 90’s. Their sound mainly was influenced by Japanese punk heroes such as “Hi- STANDARD, SNAIL RAMP and NICOTINE.” In February 2007 Smash Up released their first album which topped “Japan’s Oricon Indies Charts” and became a smash hit! In December 2007, their first EP was released and their tour, covering over 40 shows, was a great success in Japan. Having continued appearing on various events and tours, they increased and strengthened their fan base throughout Japan. Their second effort was the new release in January 2009, which again topped the “Oricon Indies charts.” The tour to promote the second album took them to more than 40 cities and shows in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka were sold out. After replacing the drummer in September 2009 they show a strong effort in their music career and are currently working on a new album. In Japan Smash up is one of the most sought-after pop punk bands in the Indie scene!
