Introduction
The First Day Of Autumn (今日立秋) is a new player on the Beijing music scene. With a female lead vocalist and a strong backing sound, these newcomers look promising in the indie scene.
Formed in 2009.
On August 21st, 2009, they performed with Read Fire. On September 25th, they performed at the D-22. On November 7th, they rocked the D-22. On November 20th, they performed at the Mao Live House. On December 18th, they rocked the D-22. On December 19th, they rocked Tianjin's Yi Ku 意庫 during the 4th Tianjing Song Writer Gathering 天津第四届原創音楽季 群英会.
On January 2nd, 2010, they performed at the D-22. On January 29th, they rocked the D-22.
In Febuary 2011, they participated on cutlure exchange programs of Konfuzius Institut and went to Germany for live shows:
Feb 16th - Duesseldorf at Konfuzius Institut Feb 18th - Frankfurt a.M. at Konfuzius Institut Feb 20th - Hamburg at Konfuzius Institut
On this tour, Konfuzius Institut promoted them under the name "Jinri Liqiu":
The Chinese rock band „Jinri Liqiu“ („First Day of Autumn“) is giving their concert in Germany in Düsseldorf . Following an invitation of the Confucius Institute Düsseldorf, the Chinese rock band 今日立秋 will give their debut concert in Germany at the Düsseldorf China Center. The rock band consisting of 4 members, founded in 2009 has been very successful. Following first experiences in the alternative music scene, the band has made itself a name at the Chinese rock festival MIDI as well as at the Strawberry-Festival. Recently awarded the price for best newcomer, they have become the avantgarde of danceable Chinese punk rock now coming to Germany.[1]
Remarkable that this is possible! Are they the first and only rock band on KI oversea programs? One would never expect China would spend state's money to send a Chinese rock band to represent Chinese culture, hence the Chinese bureaucracy still is very conservative, generally speaking. Would this mean a new opportunity for Chinese rock bands to go aboard and play? we will see.
