Through the eyes of the beholder - Chinese rock picturized - Part 2 (Matthew Niederhauser)

Photographer: Matthew Niederhauser

This is a memorandum to those that dedicate their time to document the scene, to archive the energy, the rawness of gigs, of the scene, of laughter, cries, screams and kisses hidden in the darkness of venues spread all over China. Some have come long time ago, some have gone; some forever with only their pictures staying and not just telling a story of music, but also a story of the connection these people had with one of the most beautiful scenes in the world!

In part two of this series of articles I would like to introduce someone who actually doesn't need to be introduced. Matthew Niederhauser has risen to fame due to his constant documentation of the Beijing scene leading to the release of his photo book entitled Sound Kapital: Beijing's Music Underground featuring the leading underground figures of Beijing. Currently he is travelling throughout Beijing trying to depict the landscape of Chinese modern life outside of Beijing.
