History

Since 1991 Zhou Ren started his rock odysee. While the majority of Beijing's rock band still stick to the traditional play style of classic rock Zhou Ren started to experiment and try to imitate the music of oversea artists, that was the start of his first band Rusty Iron 锈铁 which fell onto the scene like a bomb, some even speaks of important influence on young rock musicians back then. Nevertheless he is generally being innovative and a pioneer in Chinese rock. Rusty Iron only lasted for 1 year without any recorded songs. With his 2nd band Hong Shao Rou 红烧肉 he turned more to grunge and finally in 1996, after the band disbanded due to inner disagreement on contract issues with the label, Zhang Ren cut his solo debut album "Squeeze" (《榨取》) in October 1996, music critics celebrated this out put as the first real Chinese grunge album. A trip-hop styled song "Wind, Horse, Bull" 風﹒馬﹒牛 wend onto the famous compilation China Fire 3. Later on he kept being active in the Beijing underground scene until today but remained mainly without further major outputs.
